- Hello there. - General Kenobi. I've hit a wall with the snowflake method. Yesterday, I moved around the scenes in a more logical and compelling order, enhancing the flow of events. However, the new first third of the novel now lacks intensity. According to the SM, I need three disasters, but I only have two and a half... I've changed the plot many times in previous steps because it felt organic to do so, but somehow find myself reluctant to do it now. Could the formula used in the snowflake method be unfitting for my novel? On their website Eva Deverell shared a Cheatsheet to Popular Plot Formulas (which happens to mention the snowflake method). After a quick look, I am considering the following formulas:
- Lester Dent's master plot formula - Nigel Watts' 8-stage plot structure - Dan Wells' 7-point plot structure - John Truby's 22- step structure - Eva Deverell's one-page novel I'll study them all tomorrow and decide if I need to modify my novel structure.
